In the Eureka Boss handheld vacuum the science of air flow rates that are generated by the rotation of a fan connected to an electrical motor allow the reduction of atmospheric pressure at the nozzle of the vacuum. This reduction of pressure creates a vacuum and induces a suction like force to capture dirt and dust from the surface you are trying to clean. I made a 2D draft model of the fan with added dimensions:
I was then able to mathematically model the amount of torque that the motor translates through the fan to create the reduction of pressure needed to vacuum up dirt and dust into the vacuum cleaner.

The Vacuum's Physicist
Team 7
Our Team comprised of an environmentalist, a designer, a machinist, a physicist, and a cultural anthropologist. We Will are doing researching and dissecting a hand vacuum, modeling one of the functions of it using math and science, developing the life-cycle of the vacuum, understanding the manufacturing involved in that product, and redesigning it for a family in Japan.
